How Long Does it Take to Lose Weight?

Writer's picture: James RiceJames Rice

This was my Day One measurement. 48 years old with a body of a 53 year old. Almost half my body was fat. My stomach was 57 inches. You know, I never thought I was fat. Isn't that strange? I just thought I was a big guy. I needed to lose weight.

I had trouble walking. Not only because of the #arthritis  in my knee but because I would be out of breath. Walking my dog was a full week of exercise for me. I would literally be #exhausted if I went for a 15-minute walk with my dog. I needed drugs. I was taking 6 Tylenol Arthritis pills a day. If the #pain was really bad, I would throw in a 12-hour painkiller to take the edge off. My doctors had deep concern about Type 2 #Diabetes and wanted me to go on High Blood Pressure medication. My weight was out of control.

Did I feel like giving up? Yes! 14 days in. Then 4, weeks, 6 weeks and 12 weeks. After that, I never thought about quitting. It took me 12 weeks to build a routine and create healthy habits. It takes time.

Eventually, it took me 9 months and 26 days to lose 100 pounds. After that, I decided to enter a bodybuilding competition. That is what my book Transform Yourself is about. What an incredible journcey.
